Puzzle API Limits and Sharing

REST and MCP creation share the same My Puzzles inventory and the same account rights as web creation.

Saved puzzle quota

A successful creation occupies one saved item. A set of 100 bingo cards or 100 sudoku grids is still one saved item. A free account currently has 20 saved items; an active subscription follows the existing unlimited-save policy.

Creation rate limits

Creation rate limits are separate from saved item capacity: 10 per minute per account, 20 per UTC day for free accounts or 200 for members, and 1,000 per UTC hour globally. A matching idempotent replay does not consume a new creation count. Limits may be configured operationally.

Share lifecycle

publish updates the public snapshot; renew extends the current snapshot for members without publishing edits; cancel disables the public link but retains the saved puzzle and its quota slot. Only deleting the saved puzzle releases the slot and revokes the link.

Expiration and access

The default share period is 30 days. Longer 90- or 365-day choices depend on an eligible subscription. Expiration does not delete the saved puzzle. Anyone holding a working share link can read the puzzle and its answers.

Downloads and account rights

Formats reflect the puzzle configuration and account plan. The creation response gives viewUrl and exportPageUrl for browser downloads; it does not contain PDF, PNG or STL bytes. The saved export policy is fixed when published and is checked again on republish.
